Aftercare and Late Effects Service
This service is for people who have had treatment for cancer or a blood condition that required chemotherapy or a transplant as a child or young adult.
We offer ongoing support and regular check-ins to look out for so-called late effects of your treatment and your previous condition, and also to help to optimise your health and wellbeing.
We will invite you for appointments where we will check in with you, review any monitoring you might need for late-effects and discuss if there is anything we can do to support your health and wellbeing.
Our team
Our team includes:
- Oncologists (cancer doctors)
- Haematologists (doctors who specialise in blood conditions)
- Endocrinologists (doctors who treat hormone imbalance)
- Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS).
They have experience of working with young people who have been treated for cancer, recognise their unique needs and have expertise in treating the long-term effects of cancer treatment. As a team they aim to empower survivors to live active and healthy lives.
Your follow-up appointments will be with a CNS or a consultant.
Sometimes we refer patients to other specialists within our hospitals.
