Hip and knee clinic

When your GP refers you to see an orthopaedic surgeon, you can choose to be seen at one of our peripheral clinics, or at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.

Your planned treatment:

  • surgery
  • MRI
  • ultrasound guided injections
  • pre-operative assessment clinics.

will happen at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.

If you are an Oxfordshire patient and the outcome of your initial GP referral is to be referred to a surgeon, the MSK HUB based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre will send you a letter with a unique UBRN number, outpatients clinics and a contact telephone number which will allow you to choose the date, location and time of your future appointment.

Once you have booked your appointment, you will receive a telephone reminder call seven days before your planned appointment and a final two days before your planned appointment.

The Netcall Reminder System will ask you to confirm your appointment by pressing the key number as instructed: please listen to the end of the message and follow the instructions - do not hang up half way through, or you may receive further calls.

You will be able to call the department directly to re-arrange your appointment if necessary.

Tel: 01865 737876

Our clinics are directly bookable via e-Referral, so administrative staff can only re-arrange or cancel an initial appointment.

At your appointment

The outpatient appointment will enable the clinician treating you to give you a more detailed explanation of the problems you are experiencing with your hip or knee and will help in planning appropriate treatment.

We always aim to run clinics as efficiently as possible and keep waiting times to a minimum. However, due to the complexity of cases that we see, there may be delays and we do ask you to remain patient - we will always try our best to see you as soon as possible.
