Oxford Trauma Education Nurse Team

Trauma is a challenging and constantly evolving field of nursing.

The Trauma Education Nurse Team within Oxford University Hospitals is a well-established group with around 70 years' trauma experience between them.

This makes us a credible and knowledgeable working group. We pride ourselves in being part of the wider directorial, Divisional and Trust education teams, and exhibit a collaborative approach to working.

Our aim is to provide clinical practice education and support to all levels of staff using formal and informal methods relevant to the setting and the individual. Support is tailored to the individual staff members requirements.

We believe in the promotion of evidence-based practice provided in a nurturing and informative way. We want staff to grow in knowledge and confidence with us at their side.

Continuing professional development and education provided throughout an individual's career is essential for the continuity of the health and social care workforce system. We are committed to delivering and to accessing continuing professional development for the team, from apprentices on their first Trauma placement to experienced nurses wanting to specialise in a particular aspect of care.

The Trauma Education Nurse Team at the John Radcliffe site comprises a Band 7 Education Lead and three part-time Clinical Practice Educators, and provides support from Monday to Friday.

The Education Lead has a shared responsibility to the Trauma Service and the Major Trauma Centre.
