Oxford Trauma Service therapies

Recovery after serious injury requires more than just surgery.

Our Trauma Therapies Team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and assistant team members is an essential part of the Oxford Trauma Service.

As a Major Trauma Centre, our multidisciplinary team works closely with surgical colleagues to provide bespoke treatment and rehabilitation plans for all trauma and poly-trauma patients.

We support everyone in setting and achieving realistic rehabilitation goals, guiding them through their recovery journey. We work with patients, families and carers to identify and maximise patients' ability to move and function, and to help them reach their full potential.

We can provide the essential equipment to aid your rehabilitation during your hospital stay, and advice and recommendations for other devices that may be of benefit to you.

We are fortunate to have a dedicated Therapy Gym with specialist equipment to aid your rehabilitation.

We will guide you with the recommended pathway options available to you leaving the acute hospital setting and for your ongoing rehabilitation and recovery.

This may include onward referral to bed-based rehabilitation, specialist centres, domiciliary rehabilitation or Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy services local to you.

Trauma Outpatients Physiotherapy

Our physiotherapy outpatients clinic at the John Radcliffe may not be the closest option for you and you may be referred on to a community rehabilitation department closer to your home.
