Oxford Interstitial Lung Disease Service

Specialist centre for the diagnosis, management and ongoing care of people with Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILD).

We provide:

  • diagnosis of ILD conditions
  • access to diagnostic testing
  • specialist therapies (Pirfenidone and Nintedanib) for some conditions
  • specialist ILD Nurse support via helpline
  • multidiciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment when needed
  • opportunities to take part in research trials
  • referrals for lung transplants in suitable cases.

Our specialist ILD team has a wealth of experience in the assessment, diagnosis, management and treatment of Interstitial Lung Diseases.

We offer the highest level of specialist care for patients at all stages of ILD, from those newly diagnosed, to those in clinical trials all the way to those with more advanced disease requiring lung transplantation.

Our multidiciplinary team (MDT)

Some ILDs have underlying conditions, and this calls for a multidiciplinary approach. The ILD MDT has a weekly meeting to discuss both inpatients and outpatients. Such specialist discussions help with improved diagnosis and future treatment planning.

The MDT meeting is attended by:

  • specialist clinicians
  • a Radiologist
  • a Pathologist
  • a Rheumatologist
  • a Physiotherapist
  • a Nurse.
