Environmental wellbeing
What surrounds us each day can impact our sense of wellbeing. It is, therefore, important to ensure that our physical environment is suitable, pleasant, stimulating and safe.
This page contains resources available to all staff that can contribute to creating a physical environment that promotes a positive sense of environmental wellbeing.
OUH Green Plan
We are committed to driving sustainable development across the Trust to enable us to deliver high quality care and make the best use of our resources.
Our OUH Green Plan, Building a Greener OUH 2022-2027, sets out how we aim to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040 - in line with NHS England's carbon neutral target - so that we can reduce our carbon footprint, minimise waste and provide sustainable healthcare to secure better health for future generations.

Rest areas
Taking regular breaks as part of looking after your wellbeing is important - there are rest areas and equipment across the Trust, along with staff rooms and the Restaurant at the Horton for staff to use.
Wellbeing equipment
As part of our People Plan priorities we have invested in Energy Pods and Sleep Tubes as rest areas across the Trust for power naps and private places for staff to sleep.
We also have placed some equipment such as the Wellbeing Nooks in more 'open' areas where all staff can access them. These Nooks seat two to four people and haves sockets to connect laptops, chargers etc.

How Oxford Hospitals Charity can help
In 2022, thanks to a grant from Oxford Hospitals Charity, teams were able to apply for a range of rest and relaxation equipment. This included massage seat pads, recliners and relaxation pods.
We recognise that these spaces are really appreciated by our people. If you have space in your area we could convert into a rest area, Oxford Hospitals Charity can help transform it to meet your wellbeing needs.
Contact Oxford Hospitals Charity if you have ideas about how the charity can support staff and patients in your area.
