Orthotics referrals

This page is appropriate for anyone who wishes to make a specific referral to the Orthotics Service for the provision of an orthosis, or for a review of or repair of an existing orthosis.

When referring, please consider the following points.

  • All patients are seen on an outpatient basis, and hence need to be within reasonable travelling distance.
  • There needs to be a suitable contract or commissioning arrangement in place.
  • There are a variety of specialist clinics attended by orthotists in conjunction with other clinical professions such as physiotherapists and Orthopaedic surgeons, and patients may be seen in one of the specialist clinics.

Making a referral

The service does not have specific referral forms and a referral should be made by letter.
