Collaborating with partners can help translate scientific or technological discoveries into real benefits for patients. Oxford University Hospitals is therefore open to collaborating with industry, patient groups, charities and other academic institutions on research projects which aim to improve patient care.
The partnership between Oxford University Hospitals and the University of Oxford allows us to offer the complementary input of clinicians, academics and patients, as well as world-leading facilities, expertise and resources. The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) invested £95m into translational health research at Oxford by designating it as an NIHR Biomedical Research Centre, increasing its strength in this area.

We work with partners on pre-clinical and clinical research projects, including discovery and validation of biomarkers, proof of principle, drug target validation, patient stratification and disease mechanism studies. We have expertise in pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, medical devices and digital health.
Intellectual property
We have an experienced and flexible IP and contracts team who will negotiate the IP terms for any agreements.
Funding
We can work with partners to identify suitable funding opportunities and make joint applications where appropriate. We can also work with partners on a fee-for-service basis.
Confidentiality
We recognise that confidentiality is paramount in certain circumstances and have documentation to ensure that you are protected in terms of confidentiality and commercially sensitive information.
Undertake industry-led commercial clinical trials
Oxford University Hospitals aims to provide an efficient, streamlined service for commercial sponsors wishing to conduct industry-led clinical trials at OUH. Our Joint Research Office undertakes the costing, contracting and research governance review, and also provides performance oversight for the set-up and delivery of studies .
We support the use of nationally approved standard agreements to expedite the contracting process, however we also have an experienced team of legal advisors who can negotiate bespoke agreements as required.
