OUH staff in focus as NHS 75 photo exhibition launched

This article is more than one year old.

Tomorrow (Wednesday 5 July 2023) is the 75th birthday of the NHS and today we are launching Our future in focus, an online gallery and in person photography exhibition of 25 Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) staff portraits to celebrate NHS 75.

All the photographs have been taken by members of our Clinical Photography team.

This project and a range of other activities and events to mark this major milestone for the NHS have been made possible by the generous support of Oxford Hospitals Charity.

There are a number of ways to view the photographs.

  • The online gallery is now live on the Trust website
  • The 25 portraits are displayed across two in person exhibition spaces at the John Radcliffe Hospital (Level 2 corridor, just past X-ray) and at the Churchill Hospital (South Street gallery, next to Day Surgery)
  • From next Monday 10 July 2023, the individual portraits will be shared via our OUH Instagram with a focus on one portrait a day

Professor Meghana Pandit, Chief Executive Officer at OUH says: "I am delighted to be launching the exhibition at the John Radcliffe Hospital today with colleagues and I was also honoured to be one of the people chosen to be photographed.

"Our future in focus is a collection of 25 OUH staff portraits which offer a unique insight into the diverse range of people, professions and locations that make up OUH - many are of colleagues who work in roles 'behind the front line', and so may not be immediately visible or well known to the public, and the photographs were taken across multiple sites and in the community.

"Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this project and created what I hope you agree is a stunning collection of images to mark the NHS 75th anniversary - all photography, design and online hosting has been done in-house which shows the talents of our colleagues across the Trust.

"I would also like to thank Oxford Hospitals Charity whose funding and support have made Our future in focus possible."

Three members of the OUH Clinical Photography team - Emily Arthur, Ella Barks and Caroline Green - were also finalists in the 'Our NHS at 75' national photography competition run by NHS England, in partnership with Fujifilm, to celebrate the 75th birthday of the NHS - the shortlist was published on Wednesday 21 June.

Their photos will be displayed in a dedicated exhibition in Fujifilm's House of Photography in London during July and August 2023.
