Your application

Focus

Read the job description and person specification before filling in your application form.

Never re-use a personal statement you have used in another application; our Trust values are very specific, and your application needs to mention these.

Give examples

Tell us why we should employ you as an apprentice, why you are the best person for the job.

Include examples of things that you are proud of, things you have achieved and skills you have developed.

Check your application

Remember to check spelling, grammar and punctuation carefully. Do not rely on a 'spell checker' - ask someone to read your application.

References

Get good quality references for your application, for example a former employer or teacher.

Always check with the person that they are happy to give a reference, before putting their name down.

Make sure that their contact details are up to date.

Your interview

Dress appropriately

Look smart - as you would in the workplace, should you be successful.

Arrive in good time

You do not want to feel rushed, but don't arrive so early that you have to sit for longer than 10-15 minutes, as too much time to think about the interview could make you feel a bit nervous.

Be prepared

Read through your application, the job description and person specification carefully, and prepare yourself for the questions you could be asked about our values.

Remember, the interviewer will not mind repeating or rephrasing a question for you.

'Sell' yourself

Talk about everything you have achieved - but also be prepared to talk about how you would like to develop.

Be as natural as possible. Make eye contact with the person who is interviewing you, and try to relax.
