Estates Services

Looking after our 'estate' - the buildings, car parks and gardens, fixtures and fittings, wiring, plumbing and machinery without which no hospital could function, involves a wide range of roles at all levels.

The maintenance work needed can be demanding and non-routine, and all of it contributes to ensuring that we are compliant with the required legal safety standards, policies and procedures for an NHS provider.

As part of our Estates teams, our staff plan and carry out works, liaising with, and/or supervising, assistants and contractors, allocating tasks and ensuring the quality of specifications and workmanship is of a high standard.

Technician roles

Electrical and mechanical installation and maintenance work is needed across all the Trust's sites, and the Horton General Hospital covers an extensive area in Banbury.

Our Estates staff assist with the management and implementation of programmes that will help us meet key legislative and performance standards, while at the same time ensuring that the correct procedures are followed and all work is carried out safely.

Work on essential facilities which have a direct impact on the patient experience, for example bedside call systems and wash basins, is always a priority.

While many tasks are carefully planned, we do sometimes experience unexpected events that require a quick response, flexibility and an ability to think on our feet.
