Oxford ILD Support Group
Many people face a challenging time when they are diagnosed or are living with a lung condition.
Trying to understand the condition, and what it will mean, can be difficult. Often people feel isolated, overwhelmed and in need of further information and help to best support them.
Oxford ILD Support Group offers the opportunity to meet others who understand what you are going through and get further information and advice to help improve your quality of life and make a positive difference.
The group is open to anyone affected by pulmonary fibrosis, whether a patient, family member, carer or friend: everyone is welcome.

Meetings
At our meetings, we aim to:
- provide a friendly atmosphere where you can meet others with a similar condition and share experiences
- provide access to relevant information / news / talks / signposting
- provide emotional support and help develop coping skills/techniques
- help promote feelings of empowerment and control over your disease
- support you to live better with ILD and make positive lifestyle changes
- advise on physical and mental wellbeing.
Our members look forward to a friendly supportive chat and an opportunity to catch up with others. At each session we aim to have a speaker on topics of relevance such as:
- breathlessness management
- research trials
- oxygen therapy
- diet.
There is ample opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues of concern. Specialist staff are sometimes available for information and advice. We also arrange informal social events from time to time and other interactive activities.
