Four members of staff from Oxford Medical Illustration (OMI) - the in-house team which provides services including clinical photography, videography, printing and graphic design at Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) - have been recognised at a national awards ceremony.

Jackie Love, OMI's Head of Design, won a Gold Award and a Silver Award, while Clinical Photographers Emily Arthur, Tom Capon and Caroline Green all won Bronze Awards at the Institute of Medical Illustrators (IMI) Awards in Cardiff on Saturday 11 November 2023.

Jackie's Gold Award was for the Oxford Hospitals Charity Impact Report 2023 while her Silver Award was for the ongoing No Excuses campaign to tackle physical and verbal abuse of staff working at OUH.

Emily, Tom and Caroline's Bronze awards were for their photographs in Our Future in Focus, an online gallery and in person photography exhibition of 25 OUH staff portraits to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the NHS earlier this year.

The annual Institute of Medical Illustrators (IMI) Awards recognise clinical photographers, healthcare designers, graphic and medical artists, and clinical video producers, both in the UK and internationally.

Terry Roberts, Chief People Officer and Executive Director lead for communications at Oxford University Hospitals, said: "Congratulations to Jackie, Caroline, Emily and Tom for this well deserved national recognition for their creativity.

"The work of our in-house Oxford Medical Illustration team across a range of fields including photography, graphic design and videography is key to the impact of our communications with our patients, staff and the wider community which we serve in Oxfordshire and beyond."

Roddy McColl, OMI's Head of Service, added: "I'm extremely proud that my team are winning such prestigious awards. It's a real testament to their professionalism and creativity that they bring to work every day."

Sarah Vaccari, Head of Communications at Oxford Hospitals Charity, said: "It was wonderful to work with Jackie Love on our charity's Impact Report and see her bring the stories to life. Her designs have such clarity and warmth to them and she is truly deserving of this special award."

OMI provides services to not only staff in-house at Oxford University Hospitals but also external clients - the team can be contacted via email at medical.illustration@ouh.nhs.uk
