Drop-in lung health checks for people in Banbury next week

12/07/2024

People aged between 55 and 74 who smoke, or who have ever smoked, are invited to take part in a free lung health check without needing an appointment next week.

Teams from Oxford University Hospitals' (OUH) Targeted Lung Health Check service will be at Tesco Extra on Lockheed Close in Banbury (Old Retail Park) to offer on-the-spot in-person lung health checks from 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday 15 – Friday 19 July.

Teams will also be on hand to offer advice and help on stopping smoking, as well as follow-up CT scans if needed.

The Targeted Lung Health Check Programme gives current and past smokers the chance of having lung conditions detected and treated earlier.

Liz Gamlen, Programme Manager for TLHC at OUH, said: "Early diagnosis is a key part of treating lung conditions, and this programme is designed to check those most at risk of developing lung illnesses earlier, when they're much more treatable and outcomes are better.

"Anyone eligible is welcome to pop by Tesco and have a chat and a check – it doesn’t take long and is painless."
