The nominations window for this year's OUH Staff Recognition Awards opened on Monday 13 January, including the Patients' Choice Award which is open to the public. Held every year, the awards celebrate the achievements of OUH staff and say thank you to those who go the extra mile.
We'd like to take this opportunity to introduce you to some of our previous winners.
Nadine and Clare, who work as a Neonates Matron and Deputy Matron at OUH respectively, were presented the Award for Excellence by Terry Roberts, Chief People Officer at our Staff Recognition Awards in September last year.
Commended for "reigniting our passion, supporting staff wanting to learn, and helping us become better leaders", they were recognised for their role in providing the best possible care to patients as well as leadership to junior staff.
Nadine said: "We're both very passionate about newborn care and empowering our staff. It's been a privilege to work with teams who have undergone a lot of change, and are really receptive to it with the aim of making things as good as possible for babies and their families."
Clare added: "There is a lot of love and passion in our department to strive for improvement – not just for babies and their loved ones, but to make sure that our staff all pull together to work towards the best possible outcomes for everyone. We're lucky to be part of a really great team."
Nadine said: "We're incredibly proud to be nominated for this award, let alone win it. Someone taking the time to do so really means a lot."
The Award for Excellence recognises a person or team that consistently demonstrates excellence through the quality of their work, or through the care and services they provide. It recognises people who achieve results that go beyond their role, providing significant benefit to the Trust and its working practices, and who inspire others to deliver high-quality care.
Their nominator said: "Nadine and Clare have come and lifted us up – they’ve helped us with all kinds of things, from staffing levels to estates.
"They have helped us get out voices heard and have empowered us not only to improve ourselves, but to empower more junior members of staff too.
"They care about us – about their staff, about the ward, and our patients. The ward is a happier place with them, there's more one-to-one support with parents because we have the time to do it.
"Thank you for everything you've done – and thank you for all the time and effort you’ve put into newborn care."
