The Occupational Health Service at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH) has been awarded SEQOHS (Safe, Effective, Quality Occupational Health Service) accreditation by the Royal College of Physicians of London.
The service boosts staff performance and reduces sickness-related absence by offering health and wellbeing services to Trust staff, from physiotherapy and counselling to expert advice on safe working practices.
The SEQOHS scheme, which included an in-depth audit, is nationally recognised and means the OUH team has been formally acknowledged as having the skills and resources to deliver the necessary measures outlined by SEQOHS standards.
The accreditation report, published in May 2016, states that the range of support offered to staff is a 'shining example of best practice' and added:
"This is a well-run, effective occupational health service. It was obvious during the audit that there was a high standard of engagement and leadership within the team."
The accreditation lasts for five years but will be assessed annually to ensure SEQOHS standards are maintained. Dr Evie Kemp, Lead Consultant Occupational Health Physician, said:
"We are delighted to be awarded the SEQOHS accreditation. The entire team works extremely hard to ensure standards are met and we’re incredibly proud that our services have been formally recognised as high quality at a national level."
