Urogynaecology
We manage a full spectrum of urogynaecological conditions across all ages.
These include, but are not limited to:
- bladder pain syndrome
- childbirth-related pelvic floor disorders
- recurrent urinary tract infections
- urinary incontinence
- uterine and vaginal prolapse.
Many of these conditions can respond very well to conservative measures - such as basic lifestyle changes and physiotherapy - and it is on these areas that we often focus initially.
Our experienced Urogynaecology Specialist Nurses and Women's Health Physiotherapy team can provide advice, direction and support.
Sometimes more invasive therapy is required, in which case our specialist Consultants can undertake a wide range of surgical procedures.
We are one of only a small number of centres in the UK providing laparoscopic ('keyhole') reconstructive surgery for uterine and vaginal prolapse - offering resuspension and preservation of the uterus as an alternative to the more commonly undertaken option of vaginal hysterectomy.
We work together as a close-knit team, and all passionately believe that patients should not have to endure painful, embarrassing or life-restricting symptoms that are too often attributed to being 'normal' features of previous childbirth and increasing age.
