How to refer

e-Referral (ERS) is the preferred method of referral for GPs referring to OUH. This supports the safeguarding of patient information and provides an audit trail for referrals.

For referrals to the Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust Spinal Neurosurgery Clinic and Great Western Hospital Spinal Neurosurgery Clinics please use the relevant e-Referral for these NHS Trusts.

Emergency referrals

Neurosurgical on-call referrals should be made via the Online Acute Referrals System (OARS).

Please visit the website and fill out the necessary information and clinical details: send any relevant imaging at the earliest opportunity.

Metastatic Cord Compression (MSCC)

Consult the local pathway. All cases of suspected MSCC must be notified at presentation to the local MSCC Coordinator.
