Upcoming changes to blood test bookings at Horton

10/06/2024

A new way of booking blood test appointments at the Horton General Hospital is set to improve timings and efficiency in clinics.

From Monday 15 July 2024 patients who need a routine blood test at the Horton will need to book their appointment via DrDoctor.

DrDoctor is a digital patient engagement platform that NHS trusts use to enable patients to stay up to date with communications about their appointments and care using a digital portal.

At the moment, the clinics have a 'walk-in' model which has recently led to overcrowding at busy times. By offering designated time slots, the appointments will be spread across the day, reducing overcrowding and providing a better experience for patients and staff.

Medical staff, like GPs and hospital staff, will also need to use DrDoctor to refer patients to the blood test service at the Horton.

Any patients who cannot use DrDoctor can call for an appointment on 01865 222128, or ask staff for help.

Patients who need one-hour processing of blood samples before being seen in clinic do not have to use this pre-booking service.
