Refurbishment project at Katharine House Hospice completed

30/04/2024

Patients and their families are set to benefit from an £982,000 upgrade at an Oxfordshire hospice.

Katharine House Hospice in Banbury, which provides specialist care for adults with a life-limiting illness in north Oxfordshire and South Northamptonshire, was recently refurbished to improve surroundings for patients, their families, and staff.

The hospice, which is part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH), underwent improvements including infrastructure updates and rejuvenation of clinical areas – all of which will lead to an enhanced environment for patients and staff.
The project was completed over three phases, with careful planning to minimise disruption.

Mark Holloway, Chief Estates and Facilities Officer at OUH, said: "This is welcome news for patients and staff at Katharine House Hospice.

"The teams care for approximately 1,300 people every year, leading with excellence and compassion. This improved environment will certainly make their day-to-day work easier and more efficient, as well as providing the best possible environment for our patients and their loved ones."

Emma Radley, Chief Executive Officer of Katharine House Hospice Charity, said: "We are absolutely delighted with the results of the refurbishment. The improvements have made such a difference to everyone.

"As with any refurbishment work, we knew there was going to be some level of disruption, but the contractors have worked swiftly and respectfully and made the process as painless as possible.

"Our staff here at the hospice have been amazing whilst the work went on around them, ensuring that our patients and visitors could be cared for with the same exceptional standard that people have come to expect from Katharine House."

Katharine House Hospice and OUH joined forces in 2021, and have worked in partnership since.
